Students
Who is using Blackboard?
The use of Blackboard in a course is up to the
instructor. Some instructors use Blackboard to
supplement traditional on-campus courses, and others use
Blackboard as a virtual classroom in Distance Learning
courses.

How do I access Blackboard
Courses?
Please note: ONLY students enrolled in a
Blackboard
class will have access to
Blackboard.
Your account should be available on the first day of
class. If
you are already registered for a course that uses
Blackboard, please follow the steps below to access your
course:
Step 1 - Obtain your login information.
In order to use Blackboard, you must have a
Blackboard ID and password. Your Blackboard ID and
password will be the same as the Web ID and Password
you use to access The Portal and SCC e-mail.
Your Web ID is usually your first initial middle
initial Last Name (Note: additional numbers my be
added to the end of your Web ID. Ex: bjduncan and
your Password initially will be the last 6 number of
your Social Security Number. If you are still having

Step 2 - Login to Blackboard.
You must have Internet access in order
to login to Blackboard.

Open your Web browser (Internet Explorer,
Netscape Navigator, etc.)

From the menu on the left, Click the SCC Portal
link.

Enter your Web ID and password (all
lowercase), and click "Login".
- Click the Blackboard Tab
- Click the Blackboard Link
Step 3 - Access the course.
Once you have logged in to Blackboard, you will see
your MyBlackboard
screen. MyBlackboard
includes a list of the courses you are enrolled in
that are using Blackboard. To access the homepage of
a course on the list, click the course name.
